Upon your arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, our team will warmly welcome you. We’ll then head to our port to embark on a motorized canoe trip along the Madre de Dios River. This scenic journey will take us deep into the jungle, towards your comfortable lodge.
After settling in, you’ll have some free time to relax and acclimate to the sounds of the rainforest. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on our first jungle activity: a guided walk through a well-maintained trail. Your expert naturalist guide will introduce you to the fascinating flora and fauna of the Amazon, pointing out various species of plants, insects, and perhaps even some monkeys or exotic birds. As night falls, we’ll head out on a thrilling night walk to spot nocturnal creatures and listen to the jungle’s symphony.

Today begins with an early breakfast, preparing us for a full day of exploration. We’ll take another boat ride, this time to the entrance of Lake Sandoval, located within the Tambopata National Reserve. We’ll hike a short trail through the forest, leading us to the lake.
Once at Lake Sandoval, we’ll switch to a paddle canoe to explore its tranquil waters. This pristine oxbow lake is a wildlife hotspot, home to giant river otters, black caimans, various species of monkeys (such as capuchin and howler monkeys), macaws, and diverse birdlife. You’ll have ample time for observation and photography. We’ll enjoy a packed lunch amidst nature.
In the afternoon, we’ll experience the jungle from a different perspective as we ascend a canopy tower. From this elevated viewpoint, you’ll get a breathtaking panoramic view of the rainforest canopy and have the chance to spot birds and other animals that inhabit the upper levels of the trees. We’ll return to the lodge in the late afternoon.

Another early start is rewarded with a visit to a parrot clay lick. This incredible natural phenomenon sees hundreds of parrots and parakeets gathering to feed on the mineral-rich clay, creating a vibrant spectacle of color and sound. It’s a fantastic opportunity for birdwatching and photography.
Afterward, we’ll return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Later in the morning, we’ll embark on an ethnobotanical walk. Your guide will share insights into the medicinal properties of various plants and the traditional uses of the jungle’s resources by local communities. You’ll learn about ancient remedies and sustainable practices.
In the afternoon, you might have the option to participate in another activity offered by your lodge, such as fishing for piranhas, visiting a local farm, or simply relaxing and enjoying the lodge facilities.
